Optos Announces Largest U.S. Reference Database for Ultra-widefield and OCT Imaging

Dunfermline, UK 05 March 2025 – Optos PLC, a pioneer and leader in retinal imaging technology, announces that its reference database (RDB), exclusively available for their Monaco® and MonacoPro combined ultra-widefield and spectral domain OCT devices, is the largest RDB available in the United States. Eyecare professionals utilizing the RDB and multi-modality Optos technology will enhance their workflow with an unparalleled depth of reference data for retinal layer thickness and optic nerve head metrics.

“With the largest reference database of its kind in the U.S., Optos continues to set the standard for precision and innovation in ophthalmic imaging,” said Optos Chief Executive Officer Robert Kennedy. “Our commitment to advancing clinical tools empowers eyecare professionals with high-quality data, ensuring greater confidence in patient assessments and improving early disease detection.”

Key Database Highlights

Largest U.S.-Cleared Reference Database
The Optos RDB includes the highest number of patients of any cleared U.S. database. It comprises 879 eyes, aged 22-84, collected across nine clinical sites, offering a diverse and representative dataset to support clinical evaluations.

Exclusive to Monaco and MonacoPro
The database is integrated into the Monaco and MonacoPro platforms, providing essential guidance for assessing retinal thickness, ganglion cell complex (GCC) thickness, and optic nerve head (ONH) metrics. This integration supports the detection of abnormalities associated with conditions such as diabetic macular edema (DME) and glaucoma.

Industry-Leading Commitment to Innovation
As reference databases become more ubiquitous, Optos' approach remains focused on maintaining the most extensive and clinically relevant dataset, ensuring that eyecare professionals have access to the best tools for accurate patient evaluation.

Optos remains dedicated to delivering groundbreaking solutions in ocular imaging, reinforcing its position as a global leader in ultra-widefield and OCT technology. The introduction of this RDB further demonstrates Optos' unwavering commitment to clinical excellence and innovation in eye care.
